Welcome to my blog about beer, food and other observations from Rochester NY.
Why the Cream Ale Drinker? I thought Cream Ale was a good metaphor for a Rochester blog since a lot of people do think of Rochester when Cream Ale is mentioned and yes I do enjoy a nice Cream Ale pretty regularly. There’s usually a few stashed away in the drawer of my beer fridge.
I’d love to hear your memories/stories of your first encounters with Genny etc.
I’m a freelance graphic designer that lives in Greece and manages the graphics department for the Upstate NY regional office of a national magazine publisher for my day job…
Some of my interests are as follows: Beer, Scotch, Music, Rochester History , Breweriana (beer trays, signs and coasters etc.) from NY and PA, Route 66 and the 1940’s-50’s: design , architecture, kitsch/nostalgia, Diners etc.. .
I’m quite annoyed with the fact that Labatt’s is the #1 beer in Rochester which is the main thing that fueled me to start this blog, that and the fact that I have a lot of local pride in the great beers and products produced locally. I grew up in Yuengling country but now call Rochester home. I like to think I inherited my love of beer from my dad; an avid homebrewer who also assists with brewing at a local brew pub back in PA.
Thanks,
Daron

Daron,
I’m your father-in-law Dennis’, cousin. Saw you at the Dennis’ (Jr.) opening at Virtu a couple of nights ago and Dennis Sr. told me about your website and then sent me the link. I love it, great stuff covering 2 of my favorite topics: beer and Rochester!! I do have to say that there is one thing that concerns me and that is that you’re a Cream Ale aficionado!?! - But I won’t hold that against you.
Keep me posted on your upcoming discoveries about Rochester history, architecture and design I’d love to hear about them. I’ll keep checking back on your website too.
I’ll pass the site on to my son-in-law Shawn Bauerschmidt, he lives in Ontario NY but is a history buff and collector, I’m sure he’ll enjoy it too.
Take care, say Hi to Janél and give Estée a big kiss for me.
